Abstract

Faith is only one facet of religion, which encompasses many other facets of human experience, including our relationships with others, our history, our culture, our psychology, and our philosophy. Consequently, it is not enough to have a single viewpoint in order to comprehend religion thoroughly. By highlighting the significance of a multidisciplinary perspective, this essay seeks to analyze different methods used to comprehend religion, specifically within the framework of Islamic studies. Library research, including the examination of several works pertaining to religious studies approach, is the technique used in this study. The results show that many different schools of thought—psychological, historical, sociological, philosophical, and theological-normative—contribute significantly to our growing knowledge of religion. All of these perspectives are necessary for a modern, contextual, and all-encompassing view of religion; they are not mutually exclusive. That is why it is possible to get a reasonable and inclusive knowledge of religion by combining different academic methods.
